Forget what you’ve recently heard‚ Mexico is still a safe, beautiful, and culturally rich country only a short flight away. The cornerstone of our travels in Mexico is a volunteer experience at IPODER AC, a dynamic and inspiring home for abandoned boys outside the colonial city of Puebla. Whether eating pozole in the zacalo in Mexico City or fish tacos on the beach in Veracruz, you will always cherish your time in our neighbor to the south.
SAMPLE ITINERARIES

MEXICO CITY
The most populous city in the world is home to fantastic food, world-class museums, huge plazas, ancient temples and much more. This is truly a firstclass city with deep historical roots and a critical role in our modern world. Our groups can spend a few days exploring El Districto Federal and all it has to offer. In addition to exploring Mexico City, day trips are possible to Taxco, Teotihuacan, Cuernavaca and Tepoztlan.
PUEBLA
A short bus ride from Mexico City, Puebla embodies traditional Mexico and it’s Spanish colonial past. From its impressive cathedrals to quaint cafes, Puebla is a charming city. Groups can explore active plazas and cobble stone streets, enjoy some of Mexico’s best food and visit great markets where local artisans sell their creative pieces.
IPODERAC
The cornerstone of our Mexican programs is a visit to IPODERAC. IPODERAC is a non-profit institution with four decades of experience created with the aim of helping children and youth that lived on the street, in vulnerable situations and or were abandoned. Situated
about an hour outside of Puebla, IPODERAC is a series of houses, classrooms, soccer fields, gardens and farms that house youth who go to school during the day and return in the evening for vocational and academic training, counseling and diversion. Further, IPODERAC is completely self-sustainable earning its operational costs by the production and sell of artesian cheese, soaps and carpentry, a
practice in which the residents are intricate. It is one of the most dynamic places Walking Tree has encountered and we are thrilled to have the opportunity to lend a hand. Groups will live on premise and spend its days working with IPODERAC officials and youth in a variety of service projects and have the opportunity to enjoy great excursions to picturesque Mexican towns.
THE BEACH
As warm waves roll onto soft sand and the sound of salsa music fades in and out with the ocean breeze, you know you are Mexico. Groups can spend time on a number of great beaches allowing participants to snorkel, swim and relax while enjoying the hospitality that makes coastal Mexico famous.
