This year, Walking Tree has decided to give friends and family of our participants the opportunity to contribute to several of the many projects that we will be working on this summer. Below are two such campaigns that are meant to make the maximum difference with minimal funding. Although your contribution to these campaigns are currently not tax-deductible, if you do choose to contribute, 100% of your funding will go to your specified campaign, taking none away for administrative costs.
Malaria Net Campaign in Senegal
This year Walking Tree is proud to be participating in a wide-scale malaria prevention project organized by Senegal Peace Corps volunteers and the non-profit Against Malaria. The program hopes to distribute treated mosquito nets to rural Senegalese living in some of the most isolated parts of the country. Every $10 donation will buy much needed nets that will make their way into the hands of people who otherwise would have had no access to such a basic resource.

The Wandering Scholar Sponsor a Student Program
We have partnered this year with The Wandering Scholar, a (soon to be) non-profit organization that has been created to give lower income high students the opportunity to travel abroad on a program such as Walking Trees. The Wandering Scholar was created by one of our alumni leaders, Shannon O’Halloran, and Tamara Walker, a professor of History at the University of Pennsylvania, who have come together to form this unique organization. Although their status is still pending, donations to The Wandering Scholar will soon be tax deductible and will go directly to funding students who would not otherwise get to experience a summer of service abroad.
